Each family secret they uncover is darker than the last, and Cady, who has worn many identities—Moonchild, mage, fugitive—is about to add one more to the list. I hang my head with this confession; I am an avid cover gal. The sight of an intriguing book cover will have my mind racing and fingers itching to get hold of that beauty and dive into the pages just to see what the story teller has to say.

Such was my introduction to the Ardadia Bell series. When the opportunity presented itself to read Banishing the Dark , the fourth and final installment in the series, I was compelled to see what the series was about and even though I have not read the prior works I was certainly not disappointed. The writing was clean and very well executed and even though I came in at the ending of the saga the story and characters were very entertaining giving enough backstory to keep me from feeling lost.
There is some world building and character history that is obviously missed, but this only made me want to go back and start at the beginning to see what took place prior to this final wrap up of the series.
For What It's Worth
I am keeping this spoiler free so take a peak at the synopsis for a taste of the storyline, but I will say there is intrigue, betrayal, sorrow, and a bit of humor that is all very well rounded and satisfying. I enjoyed the book very much and while I would not necessarily recommend beginning the series with this book, I would suggest those who enjoy a good urban fantasy series start with book one and continue on to this fourth installment and rewarding conclusion.
